The Right Way to Use Social Media

ecommerce Brisbane - Social MediaBusiness owners who are "with the times" understand the importance using social media as a means to build relationships and therefore attract more customers and ultimately boost their sales.

But one thing that many (even most?) businesses fail to do is to use social media in the right way.

For example, while they use social media to communicate to their clients and prospects, they don’t use social media to help them build a mailing list.

Your list is possibly your biggest business asset, because by having this "list" allows you to communicate with these people on a regular basis – directly.

Let’s put it this way… what if somebody were to come across your business or your website (it doesn’t matter which), and at the time they decided that your products/services weren’t needed.

Now, what if you were to email them on a regular basis (once a week, once a month) to update them on your new products/services or to offer a special discount?

Ok, so they may not have wanted your products/services three months ago, but what if they do now?

Because you’ve been "in their face" each week/month, you’re at the forefront of their mind.  And if your latest discount offering (which you’ve just emailed them) is in line with their needs, then guess what?  They’re more likely to buy from you than anybody else!

Ok, so what does this have to do with social media?

You must use social media to get people to subscribe to receive your email updates, and you can usually do this by posting on Facebook, Twitter (or any of the gazillions of other social media sites out there) that you have some special offers coming and they’d better get in quick to find out when it’s happening so they don’t miss out!

So while social media is an efficient way to get yourself out there, you MUST MUST MUST (!) have a means to collect their contact details so you can communicate with them long after they have gone.

The bottom line is this – you cannot control the social media sites, and you therefore cannot control how your message gets across.  But if you have yourself a mailing list that you can contact any time you want, then you have total control and will begin to see your profits grow.
